Shabbat Across Collegetown?

Slowly but surely Campus Entrepreneurs become an indivisible part of the Cornell landscape. Edie Feinstein one of the interns, has expanded her already successful Schoomoze initiative to multiple Greek Houses, where she engages dozens of students, rotating Greek Houses for her delicious Shabbat dinners and brunches.

The event has drawn attention of “The Odyssey” a national Greek Student Life Magazine - please have a look at the article by Alexandra Post, “Shabbat Across Collegetown?”

“Each year we are away from our parents and our communities back home, our connections grow weaker and sometimes we lose sight of things we used to value in high school.

PURIM is here! Campus Entrepreneurs are all about meaningful experiences and partnerships! This spring we are collaborating with Cornell Hillel and Chabbad of Ithaca to bring you the hottest Purim celebration on campus! A beloved venue - Carriage House - becomes an official HQ of Purim in Ithaca - Delicious Dips and Deserts, Multimedia Megillah Reading, ESP Expert and Magician, Rocking Klezmer Band, Best Costume Contest and Dance Party till Midnight - be there! No cover!

Our very own Jesse Turk took part in a reading of the A People written by Lauren Feldman ‘01. The play is a collage-type piece celebrating and examining what it means to be a culture and a people through the history of the Jewish community and stereotype. It’s a really fantastic script and it’s free. The reading took place in the Schwartz Center in the Flex Theatre.

We all like to make videos that promote our ideas, initiatives, events - but what makes those videos viral (and subsequently ideas) - dedicate 7 minutes of your valuable time, and enjoy (btw, this video is also hilarious).

J.O.G. Tubing on Tu b’Shvat

On Sunday February 12th, the Jewish Outdoor Group drove out to the
Greek Peak Adventure center to engage in an afternoon of tubing, with
the Tu’Beshvat holiday in mind. Despite the harsh, cold wind that
reminded us all that it was still winter in upstate NY, group members
enjoyed the time in the newly fallen snow (some of the only snow that
has fallen the entire season, and has since melted), accepting nature
for what it was. Yelena Shur, a senior J.O.G. participant, recounts
her experiences a week later, claiming that “This was my first time
snow tubing and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. It turned out
to be a lot of fun! We kept going again and again even though it was
freezing outside. It was also great to have the opportunity to meet
other students in such a fun atmosphere.” Additionally, J.O.G. members
learned about the significance of the Tu’Beshvat holiday and discussed
the JNF planting trees in Israel initiative. Being the first J.O.G.
event of the 2nd semester, it will certainly not be the last, as we
are looking forward to a March event that will be announced in the
coming weeks.
